Paxoi Island Drive
Paxoi Island Drive
Starting from the small picturesque fishing harbour of Gaios, the capital of the small island of Paxos, you drive through the tiny traditional town and onto the coastal road on the eastern side of the isle, passing by the villages of Platanos, Loggos, Dentiatika, Apergatika, before arriving to Lakka, a small traditional coastal village consisting of old Venetian built houses situated around a picturesque little harbour.
Continuing your island drive passing by the villages of Petratika, Aronatika and Mastoratika, we arrive at Magazia, where we visit the old traditional olive press for an insight into the old methods of olive oil production. This is also our chance for a short rest and a taste of some delicious village wine with some fresh bread with olive oil and sweet paprika.
After our visit, we continue our drive passing through the tiny villages of Blahopoulatika and Bogdanatika, before returning back to Gaios, the capital.
Upon your return to Gaios, take the time on your own to either enjoy a coffee or a drink at one of the local seafront cafes or do some souvenir shopping, before returning back to the ship. During your independent strolling on the cobbled-stoned little streets around the small Venetian built town you may visit the old church of Agia Triada with the impressive Byzantine icons as well as at the small Folklore Museum, whose exhibits depict life at the small island in the 18th century.
