Discover the incredible word of the Carrara marble, the white gold of the sculpture masters. Enjoy a visit to Carrara quarries, the place where marble, or “white gold”, has been extracted since the Roman times, learn about the techniques and tools used back in the days, throughout the Renaissance age until nowadays. The ancient Romans started 2000 years ago, later, artists such as Michelangelo, Donatello, Bernini, Canova and many others, loved to use the precious Carrara marble for their works of art. Today quarrymen challenge everyday "Mother Nature" in order to excavate from these steep and abrupt slopes such a unique, white and shining stone, still renowned all over the world and which decorates some of the most beautiful palaces, villas and artworks around the globe.

Notes: As this land adventure involves walking over uneven surfaces, it is recommended that guests wear flat, comfortable shoes.
