Discover 5 Top Caribbean Yachting Destinations
Secluded isles and pristine beaches where bigger ships can’t go
SeaDream Yacht Club’s elegant twin yachts drop anchor along the coastline, taking you to off-the-beaten track locations, where you discover more secluded beaches, tranquil lagoons, and cozy coves than you imagined possible. Sail to destinations that larger ships simply cannot reach—the playful yachting harbors and untouched shores of the Caribbean’s British Virgin Islands, French West Indies, and Dutch Netherlands Antilles islands. The nimbleness of your yacht allows for unexpected and delightful calls along the way—where you can engage in as little or as much local charm and island culture as you like.
Jost van Dyke, British Virgin Islands
Sitting pretty in the Lesser Antilles, just four miles west of Tortola, lies the tiny island of Jost van Dyke. Named for a seventeenth-century Dutch privateer, Jost van Dyke is one of the British Virgin Islands’ best-kept secrets, accessible only by yachts and small sailing vessels. SeaDream's yachts drop anchor in secluded White Bay, greeted by a palm-lined white-sand beach and turquoise waters backdropped by lush mountains. Home to our signature Champagne & Caviar Splash®, Jost van Dyke is the epitome of a barefoot island, where palm-lined white-sand beaches greet curious travelers. Hike and snorkel in this secret paradise of just three miles, or simply stroll a few meters down the beach to engage with locals at the unassuming Soggy Dollar Bar.
St. Barths, French West Indies
The yachting playground of St. Barths radiates the ambience of the South of France with a chic Caribbean flair, known for its exclusivity, luxe atmosphere, white-sand beaches, and unmatched turquoise waters. Most of our itineraries feature overnight stays and full days and nights in this marquee yachting playground, inviting you to explore the French-infused island’s flavorful nighttime ambiance.
Few think of St. Barths as a hiking destination, but there is plenty of access to rocky terrain and tropical flora on this island. The most popular hiking trail is Colombier Beach Trail, a 30-minute walk from Petite Anse to Colombier Beach as it winds its way from its high point down through a nature reserve to a secluded beach shoreline, which otherwise can only be accessed by sea.
Prickly Pear, British Virgin Islands
Prickly Pear is all about letting go. Three reefs lying just offshore provide some of the best snorkeling the Caribbean has to offer. Located on the north side of North Sound, opposite Virgin Gorda, this tiny uninhabited island has no permanent residents, only a beach bar and recreational water sports facility. Pristine white sand calls out for a nap under the sun. A walk down the beach to the end of the island reveals the island’s rich bird life and aquatic world, boasting some of the most colorful coral and fish you can imagine.
Anguilla, Northern Leeward Islands
This tiny island paradise features limestone caves to explore, sea turtles and native birds to observe, and the most incredible sandy beaches in all of the Caribbean. The long crescent-shaped beach of Sandy Ground welcomes sailboats and local yachts. Due to its hilly coast, Sandy Ground is protected from winds, making its pearl-white sand perfect for strolling, and its turquoise waters perfect for wading. Of the more than 30 accessible beaches, almost all of them are deserted—it is rare that you will encounter more than a handful of visitors on any given day. Its beauty is only surpassed by its thriving food and water sports culture, with some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean. Naturally, we also offer watersports from our signature Marina while we are anchored off Sandy Ground.
Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
The Virgin Gorda boasts enough dramatic shallow-water snorkeling spots to keep avid adventurers active for days. Located on the southwest coast of Virgin Gorda sits The Baths, where underwater reefs, rock life, and tropical fish abound. The Dogs, a small group of uninhabited islands just of the West Shore of the Virgin Gorda is another top pick for exploration and adventure—as are the many bays, such as Savannah Bay, that the island has also set up as self-guided snorkeling trails.
