    Description

Hop aboard an E-Bike to cycle to Grenen and discover where the North Sea meets the Baltic Sea. Take in Skagen and the surrounding area the Danish way - by e-bike! You will have a chance to see and bike past the highlights of this Danish gem located at the very tip of Denmark. This guided e-bike trip starts at the pier. Put on your helmet, hop on your e-bike, and pedal off to learn all about the Skagen area. Follow the coastal road to Grenen and go to the tip of the Grenen sandbar. A natural phenomenon at Denmark's northernmost point, Grenen is a long sandbar that divides the Skagerrak and Kattegat straits connecting the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. It is possible to walk on this sand bar and put a toe in each sea; one calm and the other choppy. Afterwards you will enjoy a scenic ride back to the yacht, passing the historic bascule lighthouse, once the marker of the entrance into the Danish waters.

  • Skagen - Skagen Stroll & Buried Church 109(USD)
    25 spaces remaining

    Description

Immerse yourself in the historic charm of Skagen's picturesque fishing village, on this private guided excursion tracing its roots back to the 13th century. Wander through the bustling harbor, admire the colorful wooden houses, and uncover the buried church of Saint Lawrence, a testament to the village's rich maritime history. Visit the small, picturesque fishing village of Skagen, Denmark's northernmost town. Its origins can be traced back to the 13th century. For hundreds of years, the fishing trade alone sustained this small community. With your guide, enjoy a stroll through the bustling fishing harbor. Admire the colorful wooden houses along the waterfront and see the rows of traditional fishing boats bobbing in the water. Continue your walk on a beautiful nature path to a true phenomenon created by nature – the buried church. The church, named after Saint Lawrence, the seafarers’ and Skagen’ s patron saint, was probably built in the second half of the 1300s and was at that time the largest church in the region. In the 1500s the sand drift period began, and the sand reached the church at the end of the 1700s. In the end, the congregation had to dig their way into the church. The struggle against the sand drift continued until 1795 when the church was closed by royal decree. Today, only the tower of the ancient church is visible.  After your visit to this rare sight, you will venture back towards the city and to the Coastal Museum, or Kystmuseet for a refreshing cup of coffee and Danish pastry. The venue for this refreshment stop is an open air museum, where some of the outside can be seen from the street. This open-air museum depicts the history of Skagen and has a replica of an old house. Enjoy a short break here before starting the return walk through the city back to Skagen Marina, brimming with boutique shops and quaint cafés and restaurants. Enjoy a photo stop before returning to your yacht.
