Description
Discover the iconic panoramas of Belle-Île and walk in the footsteps of Sarah Bernhardt, the world's first superstar actress.
Belle-Île, aptly named "la bien nommée," is the largest of the Breton islands. Its coastline offers a striking contrast: gentle slopes on the northern side and rugged cliffs facing the open sea. The charming capital, Le Palais, is dominated by a star-shaped citadel, built in the 16th century and expanded by Vauban.
From Le Palais, travel to Port Coton, catching a glimpse of the Grand Phare, the island's tallest lighthouse. At Port Coton, marvel at the iconic rock formations known as the needles, where the ocean's waves create a mesmerizing display.
Continue to Pointe des Poulains, the island's northernmost tip, beloved by artist Sarah Bernhardt. En route, pass through the serene village of Kervilahouen, once home to Impressionist Claude Monet. Monet was captivated by Belle-Île's wild coastline, painting it 36 times in varying weather conditions, each capturing a unique mood of the island's natural beauty. At Pointe des Poulains, enjoy a guided tour of the Sarah Bernhardt Museum & House. Sarah Bernhardt, the world’s first superstar actress, enchanted audiences across the globe with her theatrical performances. Her love for Belle-Île is reflected in the preserved beauty of her home and its surroundings.
Afterward, explore the picturesque harbor of Sauzon, famed for its colorful facades, and savor traditional Breton sweets at a local restaurant with a terrace boasting splendid views. Return to Le Palais and a short walk to the pier to rejoin your SeaDream yacht.
